About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Process Engineering Lead with a strong operational background and a deep understanding of different process technologies to streamline our existing flows at different scales, while assessing opportunities to produce chemicals beyond our current portfolio. In this role, you will design and commission existing process technologies, analyze operational data to troubleshoot equipment failures, benchmark performance against plant and cost metrics, and implement robust systems to inform sustainable technology improvements. You will also support our business team in exploring novel chemical processing applications for a variety of new customers constrained by techno-economics.

Primary Responsibilities

Strategy

  • Perform feasibility and trade-off studies to drive technology and end-to-end system development constrained by equipment capabilities, HSE issues, and capital requirements

  • Drive engineering cost estimates with various levels of detail to support customer acquisition process

Operations

  • Develop flow diagrams, P&IDs, and equipment/control specifications for current and future applications

  • Work toward establishing in-process controls, identify areas of variation (raw materials, process, or quality analysis), implement measures to reduce variation, and track effectiveness of reduction measures

  • Analyze process data and critical parameters for control of manufacturing processes

  • Troubleshoot problem areas and identifies measures for improvement and cost reduction

  • Identify and implement process optimization improvements to establish consistent cycle times and reduce overall cycle times

Required Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • Self-starter who is comfortable with ambiguity and takes initiative

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal capabilities

  • Proficiency in business analysis tools and techniques

  • High threshold for social interactions and ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Detail-oriented with a strong attention to accuracy

  • 5+ years of experience at a top tier strategy consulting firm, investment bank, startup, or venture capital firm. MBA is a plus. 

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or related field

  • Experience in the chemicals industry is a plus
